2017 Event Details

The Kansas City Region welcomes you to the 2017 Annual Grand National Meet.  We will make this event interesting and exciting, offering easy access to the host hotel and show field.

When you come to Kansas City you expect Barbecue, right?  Friday night on the lawn of the host hotel we will be serving award winning “Oklahoma Joe’s Bar-B-Que” now called “Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que!”  This is a wonderful opportunity to visit with new and old friends.  Be sure to pre-register....it's sure to be a sell out.

The Kansas City/Independence area has both entertaining and historical sights to accommodate all ages of your family. We are offering a guided tour of the Bob Ehinger Museum.  This private collection is on two floors, offering many antique cars just as they were on the dealers’ floor.  Memorabilia abounds with walls of oil cans, gas pumps, dealer service signs and hundreds of license plates.  This private museum is always enjoyed by car collectors.

Our second guide tour is to the Steamboat Arabia Museum.  In 1856, the steamboat Arabia sunk in the Missouri River, carrying cargo for the frontier

pioneers.  Fortunately, it was finally recovered in the 1980’s, buried 45 feet

on a Kansas farm. This museum houses the largest single collection of pre-Civil War artifacts in the world. It is one of the most popular attractions in Kansas City.

Our third guided tour will take you to the Bingham Waggoner Estate in Independence, Missouri. This home is on the National Registry of Historic Homes. George Caleb Bingham, a well known artist and political leader, lived here before the Civil War. Peter Waggoner, a miller, purchased the home in 1867. His family lived here until 1976. This tour offers a luncheon and fashion show.

Other sites for self-guided touring include the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum, the Truman home, the World I Museum, and Kansas City Union Station,  Also in the area is Paradise Park, a wonderland for the young. The park has 12,000 square feet indoors featuring a game room, laser tag, and bumper cars. Outdoors you will find go-carts, miniature golf, batting cages, and other activities on two acres.

Come to the Grand National Meet and make this a week-long vacation for the entire family.
